‘Melangell’ (JP?) in a Pyrenean haven

This comment by ‘Melangell’ was posted on the Guardian thread on 02/08/2010…  (Ref. Jim Perrin’s false colours.)

‘When I visited Jim at his house in the Pyrenees last year…’ — it follows therefore that the year referred to was 2009.

Siân Melangell Dafydd, we feel certain, was not party to this. We have explained in previous postings that we are aware of a young Welsh woman of that name who was involved with Jim Perrin (note her dedication below) and we would not wish to hurt her. It is our belief that Jim Perrin hi-jacked her name, as in our opinion he has done with others’. She is a sensitive and highly talented author and is renowned in the Welsh literary world for her poetry and prose and has received many honours for her work. Such a young woman would not — could not — have knowingly lent her name ‘Melangell’ to those disgraceful entries on the Guardian thread concerning our sister and her family; note the sequence, which begins on the 24/07/2010. In the context of our site, however, we feel it is now appropriate to quote details — and her own words — of the genuine Melangell. A postscript to: Overheard at the funeral by ‘Melangell’ (JP?)

When this title was first posted on the 5th of February, 2011, we had no idea that by then Jim Perrin had charmed at least three young women into becoming involved with him: this was in the five years up to 2010 which followed the death of our sister on the 11th of May, 2005 *.

Whilst he was using one of his aliases (as we believe he did) to plant his comments on The Guardian thread we had not at that time been informed about those relationships. The first, as we were later told, he conducted within only a year of Jac dying…  going to a house (again in Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant) bought with funds mainly provided by his new partner, and as he himself wrote in West: ‘Moving in on the anniversary of Jac’s funeral’…

Jim Perrin’s grief for the loss of our sister, short-lived as evidently it had been, obviously was no longer of consequence (though we were not aware of this) when in 2010 he posted in The Guardian the comment we quoted in ‘Overheard at the funeral by ‘Melangell’ (JP?)’

So: five years after our sister died, Jim Perrin’s intention seems to have been two-fold: posing as ‘Melangell’ to promote by that dialogue with Jac’s sisters his then recently published book, West: (and the useful and continuing saga of his Terminal Lung Cancer) and to vilify us. He sought to support and strengthen his own cause by the use of spurious ‘facts’, and by lying about us he attempted to destroy our credibility and reputation.

It is now quite clear: unknowing as we were and thus writing as we did in the penultimate paragraph of our previous post we gave Jim Perrin far too much credit for what we imagined to be his distress…

* We have now learned that there were at least five young women in that period.

Jac’s sisters.

Jim Perrin admitted to violence towards a former wife: (plus extra details of his use of aliases…)

Jim Perrin’s dishonest account of his history with our sister included the breath-taking duplicity of his claim that she had been his ‘lover, wife and friend of forty years.’ As an example of this author’s shameless use of implication, this is a tour de force

His subsequent posturing on the The Guardian, post-publication of his book West, and the removal of several of our comments (we presumed at his instigation) finally led us to realize that the only way forward was to create our own site; one which was as informative as possible — and one in which the truth was told.

It was Jim Perrin, we absolutely believe, yclept ‘Melangell’, who posted on The Guardian thread further lies about Jac as well as offensive comments about her sisters and her family — it was a blatant attempt to discredit us and so obvious. These were in response to our stated disquiet and efforts to check him.  His comments are still there — indeed he regularly offers up an opinion under this alias.  To read them, and perhaps to understand why we have no doubt at all that it is Jim Perrin with whom we are dealing, they can be found on the thread following Sir Andrew Motion’s review of West — those concerning Jac’s sisters date from July, 2010.
