Might Jim Perrin have used the name of another author to deceive the CSA?

In October, 2002, (according to the invoice we have seen of a removal firm dated on the 18th. of that month), Jim Perrin’s household effects were taken from his previous address in Ruabon, near Wrexham, Denbighshire to ‘Manchester House’, Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant, Powys — both in Wales. We know that he was living at his new address (and he said so himself, in West) when our sister Jac met him again — such ill fate — after knowing him briefly in the distant past: it was at a reading in ‘the Pavilion’, Llangollen on the night of 29/10/2002. The name-dropping game

An eagle-eyed well-wisher has contacted us with the following contribution.

*        *        *        *        *

”Quite often the secondary, and even the primary, purpose of the Dedication or Acknowledgments section in a book is, by dropping ‘names’, to lend a spurious authority to the work, perhaps beyond its merits. Jim Perrin is no exception to this common practice, but he takes it to a different level.

It is known that one book dedication, at least, was made by Perrin without the prior knowledge, still less the permission, of the distinguished named person* (a grave lapse in etiquette, but cunning, particularly as the permission referred to might very well not have been given); also that certain of his acknowledgments are of people not enamoured of him, who are nonetheless now permanently associated with him in print, an insidious form of irreversible literary stalking. Jim Perrin moves on again?

How quickly word seems to get out!  We received a message only today, 08/10/2014, to tell us that Jim Perrin is moving and that, as an excuse, his story is that ‘he is so ill he has got to leave Snowdonia in the next few weeks. He says the climate is very bad for him.’ (And, they continued, ‘He must think we are all idiots.’)

It appears therefore that the information we recently posted about his address in Harlech, Gwynedd, is now out of date, as we have been told that the house has already been sold. (Except: revision.) We have just, 09/10/2014, double-checked with the estate agent and they confirmed that a cash offer had been accepted with a completion date of 07/11/2014. However the buyers withdrew their offer, and the house is now back on the market. It would seem that, after all, Jim Perrin may not be able to move on quite as quickly as (for the state of his ‘health’) clearly he needed to do: unless, that is, he asks of any most nearly concerned — as he did of our own family in what we believe may be similar circumstances — ‘the funds to move on with, it is only fair.’..  See Overheard at the funeral by Melangell (JP?)
